Please mark YOUR OWN ANSWERS to these important questions facing our Church. IMPORTANT: Your name and individual answers will be kept completely confidential.

YES  NO You may add your comments, on this survey or an attached page.

1.  The mission of The United Methodist Church is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” and this mission statement affirms “Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the Lord of all.”  (Book of Discipline, pars. 120 & 121.)  Do you agree with this mission?

2.  Should the United Methodist Church continue to be one global church, and reject all proposals to restructure into separate regional organizations for the United States, Africa, and other regions?

3.  Should all United Methodist clergy, officials, and seminaries affirm the traditional Christian faith as stated in the Book of Discipline of the UMC?

4.  Should the United Methodist Church stop participating in the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, which advocates unrestricted abortion rights?
5.  The Iowa Annual Conference of the UMC has a part-time paid lobbyist (“Leadership Development Minister for Social Justice and Mission”).  Should our Iowa Church terminate this part-time lobbying  and instead encourage all members to express their own opinions to Legislators?
6.  Do you believe the dollar amount of apportionments which your Local Church is required to pay to the Iowa UM Church is higher than it should be?
7.  Should each Local Church be allowed to choose which mission programs (Iowa, national, and world) to support and in what amount?

8.  The United Methodist Church believes, "We support laws in civil society that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman." (Book of Discipline 2008, par. 161Do you agree with this belief?

9.  The United Methodist Church believes that "sexual relations are affirmed only within the covenant of monogamous, heterosexual marriage" and "does not condone the practice of homosexuality and considers this practice incompatible with Christian teaching." (Book of Discipline 2008, par. 161.) Do you agree with these beliefs?
10.  Should United Methodists increase ministries that offer healing and transformation through Jesus Christ for persons struggling with all kinds of sexual sin, including homosexual behavior?
11.  When clergy members of the Annual Conference elect their clergy delegates to the UMC General Conference, should United Methodist    local Pastors be given the same voting rights that Ordained Clergy now have?
12.  Should laity be more active as servants, leaders, and decision-makers in The United Methodist Church?
13.  Do you believe your church should help you discover your spiritual gifts and use them in the church?
