MLRM will be Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Ames, Iowa

Celebrate Laity Sunday! (Third
Sunday in October each year).
Our UMC Book of Discipline states,
"Laity Sunday
shall
be observed
annually, preferably on the third Sunday
in October. Laity Sunday calls the
church to celebrate the ministry of all
lay Christians, as their lives are
empowered for ministry by the Holy
Spirit." If the
third Sunday is not a good
date for your church, choose a date that
works for you!
Laity Sunday is a great opportunity for
Lay Leaders to work with other lay
people in their congregations to share
their own faith stories in worship.
This year's theme is "One in Spirit, All
in Ministry: In the Spirit of
Discipleship." The General Board of
Discipleship has, through the
Interpreter, and
on their website (www.gbod.org/laity/articles.asp)
posted many great suggestions for your
use in planning this service. You may
also download a Laity Sunday poster from
the same site (or use it as a bulletin
cover).
